A really nice baked dessert.~~baked doughnuts if you will.
Ingredients:
1 can (20oz) sliced pineapple in heavy syrup,drained
1 package (17oz) frozen puff pastry(may make your own,but i found the store puff pastry quite good)
sugar
pumpkin pie spice
1 farm fresh egg,lightly beaten
Directions:
1. About 4 hours before serving time,place 8 pineapple slices on paper towels and let drain for about 30 minutes.
2. Thaw the puff pastry.
3. Cut each sheet into 4 squares,roll out each square 1 longer and 1 wider on a lightly floured pastry cloth.
4. Sprinkle the pineapple with the sugar and pumpkin pie spice.
5. Place each slice on a pastry square.
6. Wrap the pastry around the pineapple,pinching the ends to seal and trim the excess dough from the bottom.
7. Turn right side up and shape the pastry around the pineapple to form a circle.
8. Carefully cut an X in the middle with a sharp knife,enlarge to neaten the hole with your finger.
9. Place the doughnuts on a medium size ungreased cookie sheet.
10. Freeze until 30 minutes before serving.
11. Heat oven to 425 degrees.
12. Brush the doughnuts with the beaten egg.
13. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
14. Serve warm.
15. Pretty yummy,if I do say so myself.
