Persimmon Holiday Pie

A light, unusual dessert for holiday meals.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup melted margarine
2 cups persimmon pulp
3 eggs
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup melted butter
2 1/2 cups milk
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup walnut meat (optional)
Directions:
1. Mix first three ingredients and pat firmly in a pie pan.
2. Bake at 375 for 15 minutes or chill.
3. Mix persimmon pulp in a large bowl and beat in all other ingredients in order given.
4. Pour into graham cracker crust and bake in 325 oven for 1 hour or until firm.
5. Serve with whipped cream topped with chopped nuts if desired.
