I got this recipe from a Conservative Mennonite friend in Indiana - Very Traditional and VERY yummy!
Ingredients:
1 cup margarine
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 tablespoons light corn syrup (karo)
2 teaspoons baking soda
3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon powdered ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 tablespoon anise flavoring
Directions:
1. Mix and store in refrigerator overnight.
2. Make into 3/8 inch rope and cut into small slices about the width of a pencil.
3. Bake at 375 degrees for about 7 minutes.
