This is a recipe that my grandmother used to make when I was young. I love making these for my grandbabies. The smell of them baking takes me back.
Ingredients:
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg yolk
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 egg white, beaten stiff
1 cup chopped pecans
Directions:
1. Cream shortening and sugar.
2. Add egg yolk, cinnamon and flour. Mix well.
3. Spread 1/4 inch thick in greased 10 x 15 inch pan. Press mixture evenly into pan.
4. Add sugar to stiffly beaten egg white. Brush over dough.
5. Press pecans over dough.
6. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
