I love pears, so I'm always looking for new recipes using them. I found this one in an old cookbook that my Mom has. I haven't tried this yet, but it sounds interesting...bet this might be really good with biscuits or maybe pancakes. I'm not really sure why it's called Pear Honey , cause there's not a drop of honey in it! Since I haven't made this one, I'm guessing on the prep and cook time.
Ingredients:
3 lbs ripe pears, peeled and cored
1 cup diced pineapple or 1 cup crushed pineapple
1 grated lemon, juice and rind of
5 cups sugar
Directions:
1. Run the pears through a food chopper using fine blades.
2. Combine all ingredients.
3. Cook on low heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture is thick and clear.
4. Pack in hot jars and seal.
5. Process in a water bath for 10 minutes.
