My best friend in high school, Teresa, came up with this recipe. We made these many times back in the 70s. So easy and fun for kids, there is no baking - instant gratification! Thank you Teresa! Note: If you don't want to add wax to your chocolate, just omit it. The finish will be different, but chocolate and peanut butter is good no matter what! Cook time is melt chocolate time.
Ingredients:
18 ounces peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
16 ounces powdered sugar
3 cups corn flakes
1/2 cup butter, melted
12 ounces chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk)
1/3 paraffin wax block (1/3 small bar of gulf wax)
Directions:
1. Mix together the peanut butter and the powdered sugar.
2. Mix in the cornflakes.
3. Mix in the melted butter.
4. Form into balls.
5. For the coating, melt the wax and the chips together in a double boiler.
6. Dip the peanut butter balls into the chocolate, place on waxed paper or wire rack and let set.
