Peanut Butter Cake And Frosting

A family favorite.
Ingredients:
2 cups sifted cake flour
1 1/3 cups sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup shortening
1/3 cup peanut butter
1 cup milk
2 eggs
Directions:
1. Sift dry ingredients together.
2. Add shortening, peanut butter and 2/3 cup milk. Beat until smooth.
3. Add remaining 1/3 cup milk and eggs. Beat two minutes. Pour into two greased 8 inch cake pans. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 - 40 minutes.
4. PEANUT BUTTER FROSTING:
5. 1/4 cup butter or oleo
6. 1/3 cup peanut butter
7. 1 1/4 cups confectioners sugar
8. 1/8 tsp. salt
9. 1/2 cup cold strong coffee
10. 1/2 tsp. vanilla
11. Cream butter; add peanut butter and salt. Blend in sugar and coffee alternately. Add vanilla. When all ingredients are well blended, spread on Peanut Butter Cake.
