I don't see why you could'nt try this with well-drained canned peaches if fresh peaches are not available. Yummy!!
Ingredients:
8 cups sliced & peeled peaches
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons orange juice
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon grated orange rind
1 teaspoon vanilla
2/3 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
salt
1/3 cup milk
Directions:
1. Combine peaches with sugar, orange juice& nutmeg.
2. Spoon into a 11x7 baking dish.
3. Topping: Beat butter with sugar til fluffy.
4. Beat in eggs one at a time.
5. Stir in orange rind and vanilla.
6. Stir 1/2 dry ingredients into batter, then stir in milk and then rest of flour.
7. Spread on peaches and bake at 375 for about 50 minutes.
