Well, I think the show was a rerun, but, saw this on Paula's Party while I was sitting in the ER with Bryan the other night. It actually came from a viewer, who saw one of her son's in an interview say My mom's favorite food is fried butter. Read more . as a joke. So, the viewer came up with this recipe, and Paula invited her to her show, and the viewer presented it to her. Just sharing out of fun. Paula may or may not have paid the viewer for her recipe, but, it's a little tacky that she named them Paula's Fried Butter Balls . Recipe and pic from .
Ingredients:
2 sticks butter
2 ounces cream cheese
salt and pepper
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 egg, beaten
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
peanut oil, for frying
** you could add garlic and chives for a great appetizer, or to serve along side a steak and potatoes to break over them...yum
*** would like to see a way to add more cream cheese, and some chocolate to make it a dessert, but, you'd want to coat in something besides bread crumbs
Directions:
1. Cream the butter, cream cheese, salt and pepper together with an electric mixer until smooth.
2. Using a very small ice cream scoop, or melon baller, form 1-inch balls of butter mixture and arrange them on a parchment or waxed paper lined sheet pan.
3. Freeze until solid.
4. Coat the frozen balls in flour, egg, and then bread crumbs and freeze again until solid.
5. When ready to fry, preheat oil in a deep-fryer to 350 degrees F.
6. Fry balls for 10 to 15 seconds until just light golden.
7. Drain on paper towels before serving.
