Papaw's Holiday Chicken Livers

(Papaw always made these every New Year's. not fat free but good.) Years ago Mom compiled a family cook book for my eldest sister when she went off to college. What has become of the final version I don't know, needless to say its gone. However I've got Mom's notes. I'm attempting to save these recipes by posting them here. Any of Mom's special notes I'll include in parenthesis. But needless to say some of these are not complete recipes. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
toothpick
1 pint chicken liver
8 ounces bacon
soy sauce
black pepper
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Wrap livers individually with bacon, secure with toothpick.
3. Place livers on a cookie sheet.
4. Shake lots of soy sauce and the lots of black pepper.
5. Let stand a few minutes.
6. Bake until bacon is crisp and livers firm and not pink on the inside.
