Homemade Granola bars are chocked full of goodness and a breeze to make with your kids or grandkids. Feel free to substitute your family's favorite dried fruit and seeds to make this recipe your own.
Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup corn syrup
3 cups quick oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup crisp rice cereal
3/4 cup dried cranberries
3/4 cup dried apricot, chopped
1/4 cup sunflower flax, sesame seeds
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F Grease a 15x10-inch jelly roll pan.
2. Heat butter and brown sugar together in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until smooth. Stir in corn syrup.
3. Combine remaining ingredients in large bowl. Pour sugar mixture on top. Mix well, until all ingredients are moistened. Press firmly into prepared pan.
4. Bake at 350F for 20-25 minutes, or until light golden. Cool completely then cut into bars.
5. TIPS: Replace all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
6. Under bake for a chewey texture. Bake longer for a crispier bar.
7. Vary the dried fruit and seeds to suit your own tastes, keeping the total amount the same as in the recipe.
