Another family cookbook recipe, I had forgotten about. An elegant passround to serve with drinks.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup cream
1/4 cup sour cream
1 small onion, very finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
24 vol-au-vent cases, cooked & cooled
24 oysters
black caviar or red caviar, only a small jar (to garnish)
snipped chives, to garnish (optional)
Directions:
1. Combine the creams and whip until thick. Fold in the onion and seasonings.
2. Spoon mix into cold pre-baked vol-au-vent cases and ganish each with an oyster and caviar. Finish with a tiny amount of snipped chives if using.
