From OF COURSE it's NOT the real thing....so don't try to review it as if it were. Just enjoy it for what it is. If you enjoy it....Great. If not, provide a suggestion as to what I can do to make it better.....My husband will be the first to tell anyone that a copycat recipe isn't quite the same as the real thing. I found this on last night & tried it last night. Be sure to let it cool completely. DH said - - THIS IS IT! ....so, we've thrown away all the store boughten dressings. Montana Heart Song wanted to know if it can be made with splenda & so I tried it & the answer is yes!!! (updated recipe)
Ingredients:
2/3 cup ketchup
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup granulated sugar or 1/4 cup splenda granular
1/4 cup vinegar
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/8 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1 pinch thyme
1 dash salt
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat.
2. Bring to a boil, whisking often, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.
3. cover the dressing until cool, then refrigerate it until well chilled.
