This is a twist on traditional cranberry sauce & my family LOVES it. My ex-husband, never ate cranberry sauce when we met, used to gobble this up every Thanksgiving!!
Ingredients:
1 (12 oz.) pkg. fresh cranberries
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup orange juice
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
dash of ground cloves
zest of a large orange, finely chopped
grand marnier, to taste
Directions:
1. Rinse the cranberries, being sure to remove any stray leaves or stems.
2. Combine cranberries, brown sugar, orange juice, cinnamon, cloves and orange zest in a medium saucepan.
3. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and cook, stirring to dissolve sugar.
4. Continue to cook on low heat until cranberries burst and mixture is thickened and syrupy, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
5. Stir in Grand Marnier.
6. Transfer cranberry sauce to a decorative serving dish; cover and refrigerate overnight.
