Orange Pound Cake with Fresh Orange Syrup

Pound cake is the Southern dessert for all occasions. This orange-scented version makes a nice finish for the holiday meal.
Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
4 large eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons orange extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
powdered sugar
fresh orange syrup
Directions:
1. Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer about 2 minutes or until creamy. Gradually add sugar, beating 5 to 7 minutes. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating just until yellow disappears.
2. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; add to butter mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Beat at low speed just until blended after each addition. Stir in flavorings. Pour batter into a greased and floured 10 tube pan.
3. Bake at 350° for 55 minutes or until a long wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack 10 to 15 minutes; remove from pan, and cool on wire rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve with Fresh Orange Syrup.
