I found this recipe in the cookbook that I had mentioned in the title of this recipe. It was submitted to them by Willie DeWaard of Coralville, Iowa. I haven't tried this recipe as of yet,so if you try this before I do let me know if there needs to be any changes. Submitted to ( a.k.a. ZAAR ) on February 2nd.,2012.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons chopped onions
1 small garlic clove, minced
1/8 teaspoon dried thyme
2/3 cup shredded colby-monterey jack cheese, divided
2/3 lb ground beef (10 ounces )
2 slices frozen garlic texas toast thick bread
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon steak sauce
Directions:
1. In a large bowl combine the onion, garlic, thyme, and 1 /2 cup of the cheese.
2. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well.(but don't over mix you don't want your beef to get too dry.).
3. Shape into two oval patties, and place into a large skillet over medium heat for 5 to 6 minutes on each side or until no longer pink.
4. While patties are cooking, prepare toast according to the package directions.
5. Drain the burgers, set burgers aside and keep warm.
6. Add tomato sauce, brown sugar,Worcestershire sauce, and steak sauce to the skillet.
7. Bring to a boil, cook and stir for 1 to 2 minutes or until slightly thickened.
8. Return burgers to skillet, turn to coat and sprinkle with remaining cheese and serve over toast.
