No words can describe how good these are.
Ingredients:
2 (3/4 ounce) packages active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water (105 degrees)
1 1/2 cups milk (105 degrees)
3/4 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons salt
2 eggs
6 1/2-7 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
4 tablespoons butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Directions:
1. Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl. Heat milk and butter until warm (105 degrees). Butter does not need to melt completely. Add to yeast mixture.
2. Beat in sugar, salt, eggs and 3 cups flour.
3. Mix well, adding enough remaining flour until mixture forms a soft dough.
4. Knead on lightly floured surface until dough is smooth and elastic, about 6 to 8 minutes. (or knead with electric mixer using dough hook.) Place in greased bowl, turning once to coat top.
5. Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
6. For filling, mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside.
7. Grease two 13 x 9-inch pans
8. Punch dough down, divide in half.
9. Roll each half into 15 x 10-inch rectangle on lightly floured surface. Spread with half the butter and top with half the cinnamon-sugar filling, pressing gently into dough.
10. Roll up tightly, sealing edges.
11. Cut into 12 equal slices.
12. Place into greased pans.
13. Repeat with remaining dough.
14. Cover rolls and let rise until nearly doubled, about 1 hour.
15. Bake in a preheated 250°F oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
16. For the icing: mix all the ingredients together and drizzle over warm rolls.
