Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 1/4 cups chopped onions
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 dash sugar

Directions:

  1. Melt butter in a heavy saucepan. Saute onions slowly, stirring occasionally, until soft.
  2. Sprinkle with flour.
  3. Gradually stir in milk. Cook, stirring, until smooth and thickened.
  4. Add salt and sugar.
  5. Serve.
