This is my grandmother's brownie recipe. It is decadent and delicious and only takes one bowl! (no extra cleaning!) NOTE: 2 variations to this recipe: 1) Use 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of 4 squares baking chocolate and reduce the sugar to 3/4 of a cup down from 2 cups. 2) Use only 2 eggs and raise the cooking time by 12 minutes. Then let sit for 15 minutes longer (20 minutes total).
Ingredients:
4 squares unsweetened baking chocolate
1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1/4 cup oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour
cherry jam (optional) or raspberry jam (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Microwave chocolate and butter together in a medium-large bowl on high for 2 minutes (time may vary depending on how melted chocolate is).
3. Stir until chocolate is fully melted.
4. Stir sugar into melted chocolate until well blended.
5. Stir in eggs, oil, and vanilla.
6. Stir in flour and mix until well blended.
7. Spread in greased 9x13 inch pan.
8. Optional: Spread dollops of jam into the pan, take a knife, and swirl the jam on the top of the batter.
9. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. *.
10. *adjust time according to above variation if using.
11. Let sit for 5 minutes.
