Oma's Gingersnaps

My German grandmother, Oma used to make these gingersnap cookies when I was a child. I loved them.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons cloves
1 teaspoon ginger
Directions:
1. Cream shortening and sugar- mix dry ingredients in a separate bowl.
2. Add molasses and egg to creamed mixture- add dry ingredients- stir or handmix.
3. Roll dough into small balls- roll in extra sugar.
4. Place on cookie sheet and flatten.
5. Bake 350 for 5-10 minutes.
