Old Fashioned Prune Cake

Now I know this is not the quick and easy type of recipe I usually share, but it is a great cake and I think you'll enjoy it.
Ingredients:
cake
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. vegetable oil
3 eggs
1-1/2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. chopped prunes
1-1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 tsp. vanilla
in a bowl, mix the flour, soda, salt and spices. in another bowl, combine the oil, eggs, and sugar. add the flour mixture to the egg mixture alternating with the buttermilk. stir in the prunes, pecans and vanilla. pour into a greased tube pan and bake at 350* for 1 hour or until the cake tests done. while the cake is cooking, prepare the topping.

2. 3/4 c. buttermilk
3. 1-1/2 tsp. dark corn syrup
4. 1-1/2 c. sugar
5. 1-1/2 sticks butter
6. 2 tsp. vanilla
7. In a saucepan, cook the buttermilk, corn syrup, sugar and butter until the butter melts. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla. Stir well. Poke holes all over the cake and pour the topping over the hot cake.
