Use a 1-quart crock pot, and prepare before going to bed. Wake up, and you'll have warm oatmeal in the morning. This recipe does not work with any other type of oatmeal such as Quaker traditional. Only use Steel Cut Oatmeal, which can be found at Trader Joe's, or at Fry's/Kroger's (Quaker Steel Cut). Read more . Also, do not add salt until the morning so to keep the oatmeal creamier.
Ingredients:
3 cups cold water
1/4 cup dried fruit such as raisins or blueberries
3/4 cup steel cut oatmeal (quaker steel cut or trader joe's organic steel cut oatmeal)
Directions:
1. In a 1-quart crock pot, spray the crockpot with Pam, or some other oil spray. Or take a paper towel with oil, and wipe the inside of the crock pot.
2. Mix the above ingredients together. Cover and leave overnight. If desired, add salt in the morning after you wake up.
3. Put leftovers, if any, in ziploc bag or tupperware; the leftovers are just as good warming it up the next morning.
