Oatmeal Fudge Bars I

oatmeal base and top with a layer of chocolate fudge inbetween. The following recipe has two different fillings. One with sweetned condensed milk or one with reg. milk which is not as sweet. Both are very good.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups quick oats (not instant)
1 cup chipits, chipits are semi sweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon butter
1/3 cup milk
1/2 cup nuts, chopped
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 (14 ounce) can eagle brand sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups chocolate chips
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans, if desired (optional)
Directions:
1. Cream the butter and brown sugar well.
2. Add egg, vanilla and again beat or mix well.
3. Add dry ingredients and mix.
4. Pat 2/3 of the crumb mixture into a 7 x 11 greased baking tin set aside at least one cup of the crumbs for top.
5. Either use filling one or two for the centre- Filling one- melt chipits ( semi sweet chocolate chips) with butter and milk add nuts and vanilla.
6. Pour over the base evenly.
7. add the last of the crumb topping and press lightly.
8. Filling two- In a saucepan add the sweetned condensed milk and butter, add the chipits and salt.
9. Melt and stir well Remove add the pecans if desired.
10. Pour over base Press the remainder of the crumb base over the top.
11. Bake in oven 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
12. Cool well, then cut.
13. Note: Chipits are another name for semi sweet chcolate chips - Also note filling number two does make a thick centre in the bar, if using the size pan as stated.
