caramel ice cream topping plus chocolate chips and nuts make a great filling for these rich- chewy cookie bars...yum
Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups quick- cooking rolled oats
1-1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1-1/4 cups margarine or butter, softened

1 ( 12.5 ounce) jar ( 1 cup) caramel ice cream topping
3 tablespoons all - purpose flour
1 ( 6 ounce) pkg ( 1 cup ) of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Directions:
1. heat oven to 350 degrees F. grease a 13 x 9 inch pan. in a large bowl, combine all base ingredients; mix at low speed until crumbly., reserve half of crumb mixture ( ABOUT 3 CUPS) for topping.
2. press remaining crumb mixture in bottom of greased pan
3. bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees f.
4. meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine cramel topping and 3 tablespoons flour.
5. remove partially baked base from oven; sprinkle with chocolate and nuts.
6. drizzle caramel topping evenly over nuts
7. sprinkle reserved crumb mixture over caramel
8. bake at 350 degrees f. for additonal 18 to 20 minutes or until golden brown....
9. cool 1 hour......then refrigerate 1 to 2 hours or until filling is set cut into bars
10. yields 36 bars
