Ingredients:

  • 1 package active dry yeast (1/4 oz.)
  • 1/3 cup warm water (110 - 115)
  • 1/4 cup. honey
  • 1 tsp. butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 to 3 1/2 cup. all purpose flour
  • additional oats

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl,combine boiling water and oats; let stand until warm( 110-115)
  2. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water; add to oat mixture.
  3. Add honey, butter,salt and 2 c. of the flour, beat til smooth.
  4. Add remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  5. Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6 - minutes.
  6. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
  7. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  8. Punch the dough down , shapeinto a loaf; place in a greased 8 inch x 4 inch loaf pan.
  9. Brush with melted butter.
  10. Sprinkle with oats. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes.
  11. Bake 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes or until golden brown
  12. Yield: 1 loaf
