Ingredients:
1 cup quick oats
3 tablespoons shortening
1 tablespoon salt
3 tablespoons molasses
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups boiling water
1 package yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup water, lukewarm
6 cups flour
Directions:
1. Pour the boiling water over the quick oats, shortening, salt, molasses and 1/2 cup sugar.
2. Let stand until lukewarm.
3. Dissolve yeast and sugar in 1/2 cup lukewarm water and add to oat mixture. Add flour and knead until firm.
4. Let stand until double in size. Form into 2 loaves and let rise again until double in size. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
