Ingredients:
2 unsweetened chocolate squares
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/3 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup salted nuts, coarsely chopped
chocolate icing
2 unsweetened chocolate squares
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups powdered sugar
2 -3 tablespoons water
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Melt chocolate in top of double boiler over hot, not boiling water. Remove from heat. Cool.
3. Cream butter and sugar in large bowl until smooth.
4. Beat in egg, melted chocolate, buttermilk and vanilla.
5. Stir in flour, soda and nuts.
6. Drop dough onto cookie sheet. Bake at 400 deg. for 8-10 minutes.
7. Remove from cookie sheet to a wire rack. Frost while still warm.
8. Melt chocolate and butter in small saucepan over low heat, stirring until completely melted.
9. Add powdered sugar and water, mixing until smooth.
10. 3 1/2 -4 doz. cookies.
