Just about any kind of nut you can think of will work.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, separated
1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped nutmeats, your choice
Directions:
1. Cream shortening and sugar, add egg yolks and beat well.
2. Mix flour and baking powder together and add alternately to shortening mix with milk and vanilla.
3. Stir in nuts.
4. Beat egg whites until stiff, then fold into batter.
5. Bake in a greased pan in a 350 degree oven for 50 minutes.
