Nova Scotia Ginger Cake

Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg (beaten)
1 cup molasses
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup hot water
Directions:
1. Cream together butter, shortening and sugar.
2. Add egg and molasses, mix until smooth.
3. Add dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves.
4. Add hot water and beat until smooth.
5. Pour into a prepared 9x9 baking pan.
6. Bake at 350°F for 35 minutes.
