This isn't your normal puff. It's done in a baking pan as one big puff then cut into squares. Growing up my Grandmother would make individual puffs from scratch, and then my mother found this recipe which is just as good, and easier to make. Ingredients:
puff |
1 cup water |
1 stick butter or margarine |
1 cup flour |
4 eggs |
topping |
1 8oz pkg. cream cheese, softened |
1 6oz pkg. vanilla instant pudding |
3 cups milk |
cool whip, optional |
chocolate sauce, optional |
Directions:
1. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. 2. Bring water & butter to a boil. 3. Add flour and stir until mixture leaves the sides of the pan and forms a ball. 4. Transfer dough to a mixing bowl and beat in each egg individually until they are combined. 5. Spread mixture into a sprayed 9x13 inch pan. 6. Bake 30 minutes. (don't be alarmed if the puff is all puffed up but then some areas fall. Sometimes it happens & sometimes it won't) 7. Cool completely 8. For the topping, cream the cream cheese first then add the pudding and milk. Beat for 2-3 minutes or until pudding mixture thickens. 9. Spread on top of puff, cut into servings and serve with optional cool whip & chocolate drizzled over top. 10. Keep refrigerated |
