1/4 cup chopped pickled beet
1/4 cup chopped sweet gherkin
1 tablespoon capers, chopped (optional)
2 lbs ground beef
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
3/4 teaspoon chili powder
12 fluid ounces pilsner beer
Directions:
1. In a medium sauté pan, heat 1 tablespoon of the vegetable oil.
2. Add the onion and sauté until it begins to turn golden, approximately 8 minutes.
3. Add the beets, pickles, and capers (if using) and sauté for 3 minutes.
4. In a medium bowl, combine the vegetable mixture with the beef, eggs, salt, pepper, chili powder, and 2 fluid ounces of the beer; mix well.
5. Shape the mixture into 6 patties, compressing firmly.
