tasty, perfect of a cold snowy night, freezes well, makes enough for 2 meals for 4 adults. This is one my mother's recipes and all the family loves it.
Ingredients:
2 lbs lean ground beef
1 cup onion
3 cups carrots
1 red pepper
1 green pepper
1 cup celery
1 medium potato
6 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon olive oil (to brown ground beef and vegetables)
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons molasses
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
1 cup ketchup
1 cup barbecue sauce
1/2 water
2 cups black beans
2 cups kidney beans
1 (20 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
Directions:
1. Saute meat breaking it up and then add minced garlic, chopped onions, chopped celery, chopped carrots and potatoe. Once semi soft add the cooked beans(canned) and rest of ingredients and cook until hot simmer 15min to help flavours blend. Taste you may want to add more chili if you like heat.
