Chilling time not included in preparation time. From the Minnesota Scandinavian chapter of the United States Regional Cookbook, Culinary Arts Institute of Chicago, 1947.
Ingredients:
6 egg yolks, hard cooked
6 egg yolks
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups butter
3 cups flour, sifted
1 egg white, slightly beaten
sugar crystals
Directions:
1. Mash hard cooked egg yolks very finely; cream with uncooked egg yolks, salt and sugar.
2. Add butter and flour alternately, a little at a time.
3. Cover and chill until stiff.
4. Preheat oven to 400°F.
5. Roll dough into strips 1/2 in diameter and about 5 long.
6. Shape into rings, crossing the ends.
7. Dip in egg white, then in sugar.
8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
