New Orleans Black Walnut Pie

A sweet treat that will make your Mardi Gras.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons shortening
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup light corn syrup
3 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup black walnut pieces
9 inches unbaked pie shells
Directions:
1. Cream shortening, sugar and flour.
2. Add syrup and beat well.
3. Add eggs, flavoring and salt; blend well.
4. Add black walnuts.
5. Place in unbaked pie shell and bake for 10 minutes at 400°F, then turn down oven to 325°F and continue baking for 35 minutes.
