I was born and raised in NE. All the Runzas I have ever tasted use sauerkraut. So here it is my NE Runza recipe.
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup sauerkraut
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
Directions:
1. Brown hamburger and onion, drain and add kraut and caraway seed.
2. Cook about 5 minutes.
3. Remove from heat.
4. Divide dough into 8 parts.
5. Roll out each and fill Pinch dough together.
6. Place seam side down on lightly greased baking sheet.
7. Let raise 20 minutes.
8. Bake 15 mins at 350.
9. Brush with soften butter.
