Nanas French Blueberry Pie

Clipped from newspaper. This won first prize at the Blue Ribbon Pie contest in Old Lyme's Mid-summer Festival.
Ingredients:
6 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 to 2 tbl. milk
1 teas. grated lemon rind
4 cups blueberries
1 tbl. lemon juice
1/8 teas. salt
1 cup sugar
2 tbl. cornstarch
1 9 pie shell, baked
Directions:
1. Add milk to cream cheese and beat until smooth; then add lemon peel and spread mixture in BAKED pie shell.
2. Spoon 2 Cups blueberries over cream cheese.
3. Mash remaining blueberries; add lemon juice and salt. Mixture should measure 1-1/2 cups (if not, add more berries or water).
4. Stir in sugar and cornstarch, bring to boil and cook and stir until thickened.
5. Cool to lukewarm and spoon over berries.
6. Chill.
