From Mom's recipe box.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pinch table salt
1/2 cup flour
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F Grease 8x8x2 baking pan.
2. Cream shortening and sugar with electric mixer (stand or handheld). Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in melted chocolate, vanilla and salt. Fold in flour by hand; if using walnuts, fold in at this point as well. Pour into prepared pan.
3. Bake in preheated oven 30 minutes.
