I am not sure where this recipe came from, but after the first taste DH said this is a keeper . The only comment from DH was that it needed more mushrooms...fresh ones...and you should have made more . This is by far one of the EASIEST recipes I have ever made. Feel free to use whatever you have on hand. The measurements are just suggestions (I rarely measure), so adjust to your tastes. Serve over mashed potatoes...it makes a wonderful gravy. Even the leftovers were delicious! UPDATE: I made this with a small chuck roast and it was just as good. Served over mashed potatoes with chive sour cream and garlic.
Ingredients:
1 lb round steak, cut into pieces
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 cup red wine
1 (4 ounce) can mushrooms, with liquid
1/2 onion, sliced in rings
pepper, to taste
Directions:
1. Put round steak in crockpot and cover with onion rings.
2. Combine the cream of mushroom soup, wine and mushrooms, with liquid.
3. Pour soup mixutre over round steak.
4. Pepper to taste (I used 3/4 tsp for a peppery finsh).
5. Cover and cook on Low for 8-10 hours.
