Mushroom Soup

This has to be the best mushroom soup I've ever tasted.
Ingredients:
1 lb mushroom
2 tablespoons sherry wine or 2 tablespoons brandy
2 garlic cloves
1 medium onion
1 quart chicken stock
1 cup heavy cream
salt and pepper
Directions:
1. Slice onion and mushrooms. Fry in butter.
2. Crush garlic, and add to pan. Stir.
3. Add sherry and chicken stock.
4. Bring to boil and simmer about 15-20 minutes.
5. Taste for seasoning.
6. Add cream (make sure it doesn't curdle).
7. Simmer another 10 minutes.
8. Blend and serve.
