Mulled Cider Supreme

Ingredients:
4 1/2 cups unsweetened apple cider
1 cup water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 (3-inch) sticks cinnamon
5 whole cloves
3 whole allspice
2 tablespoons crystallized ginger
1 (2-inch) piece peeled gingerroot
Directions:
1. Combine first 3 ingredients in a saucepan, stirring well.
2. Place cinnamon sticks and remaining 4 ingredients on a 6-inch square of cheesecloth; tie with string.
3. Add spice bag to cider mixture. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low; cook, uncovered, 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove and discard spice bag. Pour cider mixture into individual mugs. Serve warm.
