Something my Mom made often when I was growing up. Can use for fruit salad or dessert. Use what fruit you have. Coconut, chopped nuts, or small colored marshmallows are good add ins. She always added the marshmallows on Easter! Read more ! I like to let it chill for at least 30 minutes, although there is no reason you can't eat right away
Ingredients:
1 can pineapple chunks or tidbits, in it's own juice
1 can mandarin oranges
1 small jar maraschino cherries
2 kiwi
1 banana
1 large gala apple
1 c red or greed seedless grapes
4 oz sour cream
3 oz softened cream cheese
4 oz prepared dream whip, or cool whip, thawed
Directions:
1. Drain pineapple and add to large bowl, reserving juice
2. Slice banana and chop apple into pineapple juice to prevent them from turning dark
3. Drain mandarin oranges and cherries and add to pineapple
4. Cut grapes in half and add to other fruit in large bowl
5. Peel kiwi and slice into large bowl with other fruit
6. Mix together with electric or hand mixer, sour cream, cream cheese, and dream whip.
7. Drain apples and bananas, add to other fruit
8. Stir in dressing to desired consistency.
9. I usually have some dressing left, and spread over the top of the salad, then sprinkle with chopped almonds
