Mom's Asparaus Casserole

This recipe has been in my family since I was little. We always have it with Thanksgiving or Christmas meals.
Ingredients:
1 stick butter
8 tbls flour
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cup asparagus juice
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of celery soup
3 cans drained asparagus (save juice for white sauce)
1/2 cup almond slivers
1 bag grated cheddar cheese
Directions:
1. Make white sauce (see recipe below) then mix with 2 cans of cream of mushroom and 1 can of celery soup.
2. In casserole dish pour sauce mixture over 3 cans drained asparagus.
3. Sprinkle with almond slivers.
4. Cover with as much grated cheddar cheese as you like.
5. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
