A deliciously simple apple pie that always has my family and friends begging for more. I actually got this from a friend who got it from her ex-mother-in-law. I use a pie crust that I found from another member on here. It's My Own Pie Crust.
Ingredients:
6 -8 tart apples (i recommend granny smith, if available)
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 dash salt
1 dash ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons melted butter (use real butter, not margarine)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Directions:
1. Peel, cut, and slice apples into thin layers.
2. Sprinkle very thin layer of flour on bottom of pie crust.
3. Preheat oven to 400°.
4. Mix apples, sugar, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg and flour until it forms a slightly thick sauce.
5. Pour into bottom of crust.
6. Sprinkle with lemon juice.
7. Pour butter over apple mixture.
8. Add top crust. If using full crust, slit to vent. I prefer lattice top crust.
9. Bake 50 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
