Mom T's Deluxe Pumpkin Custard

My mom made this dessert during the winter months, for us as long as I can remember. Usually around Halloween we could count on seeing it. A great way to get another vegetable into your kids diet.
Ingredients:
2 eggs
1 (16 ounce) can pumpkin
1 cup light cream
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup pecans, chopped
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon butter, softened
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Beat custard ingredients until smooth. Pour into 6 custard cups (6 oz).
3. Mix topping ingredients. Sprinkle over top of custard.
4. Place cups into a 9x13 baking pan. Pour very hot water into pan around cups to within 1/2 from tops of cups. Bake for 20 minutes until knife inserted half way between edge and center comes out clean.
5. Remove immediately.
6. Serve with whipped cream if you like.
