sauce/vegan fire and spice makes 2 1/2 cups
Ingredients:
4 dried chili peppers
2 tbsp raisins
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion
1 clove garlic
2 tomatoes
1/3 cup dry roasted peanuts
1 oz tortilla chips
1 tbsp white vinegar
1/3 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp coriander
1/8 tsp cloves
1 cup chicken broth
1 oz unsweetened chocolate
Directions:
1. Soak all chiles and raisins with enough boiling water to cover for 1 hour. Heat oil. Add onion and garlic. Cover and cook 5 min. Process chile mixture and 1 cup of soaking liquid in a blender. Add onion mixture, tomatoes, peanuts, tortilla chips, vinegar, cinnamon, coriander, cloves, and process until well blended. Transfer to a saucpan. Add broth, chocolate and salt to taste. Cook over low heat for 40 min.
