Moist Chocolate Chip Cookies

I have never made these cookies but a friend of mine just sent me the recipe. She likes to add a little coloured icing and a few sprinkles on top of them.
Ingredients:
2-1/4 cup unsifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup butter or margarine or 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup margarine
1/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup crushed candy canes
1 (4 serving) pkg. instant vanilla pudding mix
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
Directions:
1. Mix flour and baking soda.
2. Combine butter, sugars, pudding mix, and vanilla in a large bowl and beat until smooth.
3. Beat in eggs.
4. Gradually add flour and baking soda mixture.
5. Stir in chips and candy canes.
6. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls (or roll into balls) and place on ungreased baking sheets.
7. Bake in a pre-heated 375 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
8. Makes approximately 7 dozen cookies.
