A friend gave me this recipe thirty years ago and I have been making it since. Most people who try it love the flavour. I have on occassion added this and that but you can too. I normally have this with crusty bread or Garlic bread.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
2 medium onions
1 teaspoon parsley (dry)
4 garlic cloves (minced)
1/2 cup celery
1/2 cup carrot (sliced)
1 cup cabbage (chopped)
1 (14 ounce) can beans (lima)
16 ounces tomatoes (stewed)
6 cups beef bouillon
1/2 teaspoon basil
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1 dash cayenne pepper
1/2 cup spaghetti (broken)
1 dash salt and pepper
1/4 cup parmesan cheese (optional)
Directions:
1. Brown meat and onions.
2. Place in large pot.
3. Add garlic and celery. Cook for 10 minutes stirring continually.
4. Add 6 cups of beef bouillon and remaining ingredients EXCEPT spaghetti and cheese.
5. Bring to boil, cover and simmer 30 minutes.
6. Add spaghetti and simmer till tender. (~10 minutes).
7. Serve and add parmesan cheese on top.
