Ingredients:
2 pound(s) round or flat iron steak run through cuber twice
2 tablespoon(s) canola oil
1/2 cup(s) white or yellow onions finely chopped
2 can(s) 10.5 oz lowfat mushroom soup
1/2 can(s) water
2 whole(s) bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon(s) dried thyme
1 teaspoon(s) garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
1 dash(es) ground black pepper
4 cup(s) jasmine rice cooked
Directions:
1. Prepare rice as indicated on package. Let set at least 20 minutes with lid on.
2. Select steak and have your butcher run it through his cuber TWICE.
3. PREHEAT oven at 350 degrees F
4. ) Prepare steak: cut into 2 inch pieces. sprinkle with half the salt and black pepper.
5. ) Heat oil in 12 skillet on medium
6. ) Cook steak pieces until brown then turn and brown other side. Remove from skillet. Set aside and let drain on paper towel. Sprinkle garlic powder over meat.
7. ) Saute onions until tender.
8. ) In a 2 quart casserole dish with lid mix onions, soup,water,dried thyme,and remainder of salt.
9. ) Place meat in mixture. Spoon mixture over meat to moisten.
10. ) Place bay leaves on top of mixture and stir lightly.
11. ) Place covered dish in oven and cook for 1 hour at 350 degrees then lower temperature to 325 degrees and cook for an additional 1 1/2 hours. DO NOT REMOVE LID WHILE COOKING. Remove from oven and let set for 20-30 minutes. Serve over hot cooked rice and enjoy.
