I was planning on making samosas, and got lazy....that's how this little recipe was born. :) Middle Eastern flavors formed into sausages and skewered.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 egg
1/2 cup finely minced onion
2 teaspoons cumin
1 teaspoon dried mint
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 lemon, juice of
salt and pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and let rest in the refrigerator for about a half an hour.
2. Form into sausage like shapes and thread onto skewers.
3. Heat oil on griddle over medium heat and fry the kebabs, turning until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 10-15 minutes depending on thickness.
4. Alternatively, you can grill the skewers (be sure to soak the skewers first if they are made of bamboo).
5. Serve with lebne (cucumber, yogurt and mint sauce), or sliced cucumbers and tomatoes.
