This is a recipe I learned in my 6th grade microwave home and careers class. It is a great first recipe for children wanting to cook. There are a few similar recipes but the ingredients and amounts differ a bit, and I think mine is the best! Lowfat tub margarine can replace butter without a huge difference in taste.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons water
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
7 1/2 ounces refrigerated biscuits, one can
2 tablespoons raisins (optional)
1/4 cup pecans, chopped (optional)
Directions:
1. In a pie plate, combine margarine, brown sugar, water, and cinnamon. Microwave 1 1/2 - 2 minutes on 80% power or until melted.
2. Stir in raisins and nuts, if using.
3. Using kitchen shears, cut each biscuit into four sections.
4. Stir in biscuits until they are coated in the mixture.
5. Push biscuits away from center. Place a large custard cup (or small microwavable drinking cup) in the center to form a ring.
6. Cook in microwave uncovered at 80% power. Remove cup using potholders.
7. Carefully turn the ring onto a serving platter by placing a large plate on top of the pie diesh and tipping upside down.
8. Cut and serve.
